Old Petty brings Tom Doak’s design to Cabot Highlands in a tidal estuary and castle setting near Inverness, adding a modern Highlands links to the Moray Firth corridor.
Old Petty brings a new chapter to Cabot Highlands, set beside a tidal estuary with a historic castle in view. Designed by Tom Doak and opening in 2026, the par-72 course stretches to 6,719 yards and introduces a fresh links test to the Inverness coastline. The setting gives the course its identity: open ground, shifting light, and estuary margins that should keep the round closely tied to the land.Â
As Cabot Highlands’ second course, Old Petty adds a modern counterpoint within a destination already established in the Highlands. Doak’s involvement signals a design led by natural movement and strategic interest rather than ornament. For travelling golfers, its location is notably convenient, just 15 minutes from Inverness Airport, with Castle Stuart, Nairn Golf Club, and Royal Dornoch within reach for golfers planning a Highland golf stay. That makes Old Petty a strong addition to a Moray Firth itinerary from day one.
