Opened in 1887, Nairn’s Championship Course is a classic Moray Firth links shaped by Archie Simpson, Old Tom Morris and James Braid, with sea views throughout and a championship record that includes the Walker Cup and Curtis Cup.
Opened in 1887, the Championship Course at The Nairn Golf Club is one of the Highlands’ most polished links tests, set hard by the Moray Firth with the water visible from every hole. Its design lineage is unusually rich, with Archie Simpson, Old Tom Morris and James Braid all contributing to the course’s evolution, and that heritage still shows in the balance of natural running ground, precise bunkering and subtle green sites. At 6,832 yards and playing to par 71, it is a course built on control and placement rather than brute force, asking for thoughtful angles into greens and steady judgement when the wind freshens.Â
Nairn’s championship standing is long established, having hosted the Walker Cup, Curtis Cup, Amateur Championship and Women’s Amateur Championship. The result is a seaside links of real authority: elegant in presentation, exacting in shot value, and unmistakably rooted in Highland golf history.
