Set above the Moray Firth near Inverness, Castle Stuart is a Gil Hanse and Mark Parsinen design with wide fairways, bold green sites and Scottish Open pedigree at Cabot Highlands.
Opened in 2009, Castle Stuart brings a modern expression of links golf to the Moray Firth at Cabot Highlands. Designed by Gil Hanse and Mark Parsinen, the par-72 course stretches to 7,009 yards and uses generous fairways to create angles rather than simply demand restraint from the tee. Its most recognisable feature is the run of infinity-edge greens, which appear to fall directly into the firth and give the layout a visual identity all of its own. The cliff-edge setting adds definition to several holes, yet the course remains playable, with width and options built into the routing.Â
Castle Stuart has also proved its championship credentials as host of the Scottish Open, confirming its place among Scotland’s notable modern links. Close to Inverness Airport and paired with Cabot Highlands’ wider offering, it fits neatly into a Highland itinerary built around contemporary links golf.
