Home to The Honourable Company of Edinburgh Golfers since 1891, Muirfield is a historic Harry Colt-shaped links whose changing directions, exacting strategy and Open legacy place it among the game’s most revered championship courses.
Muirfield has occupied its present East Lothian site since 1891 and remains the home of The Honourable Company of Edinburgh Golfers. Old Tom Morris laid early foundations here, while Harry Colt’s redesign sharpened the course into the strategic championship test it is today. Playing to 7,245 yards, par 71, Muirfield is defined by its direction-changing routing, which continually alters the wind and demands precise judgement rather than force alone. That balance of fairness and examination has made it one of the game’s most respected major venues.Â
The club has hosted The Open Championship, The Amateur Championship and the Ryder Cup, confirming its place at the highest level of the sport.
