Dunbar Golf Club sits on a slender strip of Scotland’s Golf Coast, where the old deer park wall and the shoreline shape a historic links refined by Old Tom Morris, James Braid and Ben Sayers.
Dunbar Golf Club has occupied this stretch of East Lothian coastline since 1856 and remains one of the most distinctive links on Scotland’s Golf Coast. The course is routed through a notably narrow corridor, with the old deer park wall hard against one side and the rocky shoreline of the Firth of Forth close on the other, giving several holes a defined, historic feel. Old Tom Morris, James Braid and Ben Sayers all left their mark here, and their influence is still felt in a layout that asks for control, sound judgement and comfort in the wind.Â
At 6,597 yards, par 71, Dunbar is not overblown, but it is exacting. Its long record of hosting Final Qualifying for The Open, along with the PGA Championship, Scottish PGA and Scottish Amateur, underlines a course of substance, character and proper championship standing within East Lothian golf.
