Opened in 1904, Walton Heath Old Course remains one of Herbert Fowler’s defining heathland designs and one of England’s most respected inland championship venues. Set across broad, exposed ground at Walton-on-the-Hill, it plays with a scale and openness that feel unusual for Surrey, with heather-lined fairways, firm running surfaces and a layout that asks for judgement as much as power. Its tournament history gives the course added weight: the 1981 Ryder Cup, the European Open, the 2018 British Masters and the 2023 AIG Women’s Open all form part of its record.
