Opened in 2022, Te Arai South is a modern links at Te Arai Links, routed across coastal dunes with full Pacific exposure, shoreline holes and the spacious feel of a walking course built for the ground game.
Opened in 2022, Te Arai South brings Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw’s design style to a broad sweep of coastal dunes north of Auckland. The course plays as a par 72 at 6,843 yards and stays in constant dialogue with the Pacific, with ocean views on every hole and several holes set directly beside the shoreline. Rather than relying on spectacle alone, the routing uses the land’s natural folds, sandy movement and exposed edges to create variety and decision-making throughout the round.Â
The setting gives the course its identity, but the architecture keeps it disciplined, asking for shape, position and control in the wind. Te Arai South feels open, expansive and deliberate, with each hole framed by dune landforms and sea light. It is a modern links built for walking, where the ground game and the coastline remain present from tee to green on every hole for the walking player.
