Set beside Aberlady Bay, Kilspindie Golf Club is a traditional East Lothian links designed by Willie Park Jr. and influenced by Ben Sayers. Short on the card but rich in character, it is a course built on natural golfing ground, coastal conditions and thoughtful shot-making.
Opened in 1898, Kilspindie Golf Club sits beside Aberlady Bay and plays with a quiet, traditional rhythm that feels very East Lothian. Willie Park Jr. laid down the course and Ben Sayers later added his influence, shaping a links that relies on natural golfing ground rather than length. At 5,494 yards and playing to par 69, Kilspindie is not built on brute force; its appeal lies in control, placement and the need to read the seaside conditions properly. The course moves through open links terrain with the bay a constant presence, giving the round a strong sense of place without unnecessary drama. Its modest scale is part of its character, asking for thoughtful club selection and rewarding precise approach play.Â
For many, Kilspindie offers a different expression of East Lothian golf: intimate, unforced and rooted in the old traditions of the game from the first tee to the last green.
